Posted by admin on Wednesday, March 01, 2006 (20:02:17) (19028 reads)
Marshall writes in to ask about how he can retreive some pictures that he added to MSN Messenger as Display Pics because he has lost the original pictures and wants to retreive the ones he still has as MSN Display Pictures. Unfortunately it will not be possible to retreive the exact original images, but it is possible to extract the Display Picture versions, if they are still present in MSN Messenger. The CE/DP Backup Wizard is a tool for MSN Messenger that allows you to extract the Emoticons, Display Pictures and Backgrounds that you added to your MSN Messenger account. You can use this simple tool to retreive the Display Pictures from MSN Messenger, although the saved pictures will be the same size as visible in Messenger, and not the same as the original picture. FAQ: Can I make my own animated MSN Display Picture?
Posted by admin on Saturday, February 25, 2006 (03:49:25) (28667 reads)
This is a question that comes up quite often: How can I make my own animated MSN Display Pic? Quick and Short answer: No. only authorized MSN partners are able to create dynamic content for MSN Messenger (such as Dynamic Display Pics, MSN Winks, and dynamic bakgrounds). The first idea is to try setting an animated GIF image as your MSN display pic, but this won't work. MSN Messenger will extract the first frame from the animation and use that as your display picture. This issue was also brought up during a Windows Live Messenger Beta chat with the Messenger develpment team in December 2005. The Messenger team stated that at that time, there had been absolutely no plans for implementing custom Animated MSN Display Pictures, including GIF images. MSN Display Pictures FAQ added to site
